NOVI HEAT: WHAT TO EXPECT

The Novi Heat is an established, premier youth travel baseball program with the mission to build fundamental skills, emphasize teamwork, and develop strong character that will allow youth baseball players to grow as young men in a competitive baseball environment.

Over our 25 year + history, Novi Heat teams have competed at all levels from AA to Major and in KVBSA from Community to Open level. Recently we have experienced significant success at all levels consistently placing in tournaments over 30 times each season, and posting over 100 wins in the KVBSA each season.  We are not all about winning though as our focus is about developing players to maximize their potential individually and as a team. We have our own state of the art indoor practice facility and a lower cost structure than all travel teams in the area.  More information can be found by clicking here.

The Novi Heat is required by our bylaws to conduct a thorough tryout for all players.  Players for all teams are selected by the head coach from the highest level down.  Players may be selected to "play up" a year if highly skilled or roster spots available, but may not "play down" to a lower age for any reason. We encourage multi-sport athletes and welcome them to tryout as the majority of our players compete in multiple sports.  Our travel teams are open to all communities in the area and we have non-resident spots in accordance with our bylaws on all teams.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When are tryout dates? Every year our tryouts will be around the end of July or possibly early August for older teams.  Please stay tuned to our facebook and twitter pages.
  • We are out of town for tryouts, can I still make a team? Answer: Please register on the website, select private tryout requested AND reach out to the coach listed above to determine next steps. Private tryouts are not guaranteed and based on field and coach availability.
  • Do I need to attend all days of tryout? Answer: Please reach out to coordinate with your coach at your age level, but if you are available we recommend planning to come to all tryout dates listed for your age group unless told otherwise.
  • What does off season training look like? Answer: We have our own 8000 sq ft practice facility and can book additional space if needed per team. We have use of several fields for practices and games. Most teams practice and play some games in the fall, then take a break around the holidays and start up indoors in January. We understand many players are playing multiple sports.
  • My son plays multiple sports, is that an issue? Answer: We encourage multiple sport athletes and all teams have many multi-sport athletes.  However, during baseball season we expect that baseball is your top sport priority.
  • Does my son need to be a Novi resident or attend Novi schools? Answer: No. While we do have an larger number of Novi players and have a certain number of resident spots required for each team, our teams are open to players from the entire area. We have players that attend HS in many local area school districts.
  • Do I need to register for tryouts? Answer: Yes it is required so that the coaches have a way of contacting you about the results of the tryout, it covers us from a liability standpoint in case of an injury during tryout, and also helps us plan.
  • Can my son play up a year or two? Answer: Our teams are usually very competitive and we have found that most players are best suited to play at their age level (listed above birthday ranges).  However, for very advanced players we have seen players play up a year.
  • Where are the fields? Where is the practice facility? Answer: Unless otherwise specified, tryouts are at Novi ITC Park (map).  Our practice facility used primarily during winter is in Wixom just north of I-96 on West Road (The Strike Zone).
  • I have more questions, who do I contact?  Answer: Please contact the coach for your age group listed on the website.
